Free College Scholarships

College scholarships are available from a variety of sources and can be based on any of hundreds of possible student qualifications. Basically, scholarships are free money for college costs. Some must be used specifically for tuition, but some can be used for any expense the student encounters from travel, to computers, to food.

The newest resource for searching scholarships is a free search like this modified Google engine. Search for any topic or special characteristics of the student, and add the word "scholarship" "grant" or "financial aid" to your search to find relevant sources of college tuition funding.

A scholarship might be a contest or a reward for students with great grades. It might be limited to members of a certain club or association, or only offered to children of employees at a particular company or union. Some require financial need, but some won't even ask about the students money situation.

Good places to look include high school and college financial aid offices, local business organizations like the chamber of commerce, or online search engines that will match your profile to eligible awards for free. Lots of free college scholarships information is available, so save your money for tuition and avoid any scammers who promise a "guaranteed" result.
